Three of Tiger Trailers’ current 30-strong group of apprentices have been recognised with Alan Cartwright Foundation Apprentice Awards reflecting the exceptional efforts they have demonstrated throughout 2019 as another exciting year in the firm’s history draws to a close.
First year apprentice Giovanni Edwards, 24, second year apprentice Jade Hawthorne, 18, and final year apprentice Jack Edmonds, 19, each received an Alan Cartwright Foundation Apprentice Award. The presentations were made by Joint Managing Directors John and Steven Cartwright along with newly-appointed Production Director Barry Atherton, and General Manufacturing Manager Nathan Owen.
“I decided I wanted to do an apprenticeship when I left college after sitting my A Levels and chose Tiger Trailers’ apprenticeship as it is practical, enabling me to learn a skill whilst gaining a qualification. Being open minded has enabled me to thrive within Tiger”, comments Jade.
“Young people possess a key ingredient – enthusiasm. Our apprentice programme channels that eagerness and produces highly motivated, skilled individuals, addressing the industry’s often-cited skills shortage”, comments Joint Managing Director John Cartwright.
Tiger Trailers’ apprentices spend four days each week amassing experience in skills including chassis assembly, fabrication, body-building and electrical systems on the shop floor at our factory and HQ in Winsford. This hands-on experience is complemented by a day at neighbouring Warrington & Vale Royal College in Hartford, working towards tailored two-year Level II and four-year Level III NVQ qualifications in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering.
John adds: “Throughout 2020 and beyond we look forward to welcoming our next intake of apprentices and continuing to actively engage with enthusiastic learners of all ages, from a wide variety of backgrounds, helping them to retrain and embark on a rewarding career path with excellent prospects.”
