Tiger Trailers is proud to announce having joined Women in Transport as a corporate member and having already enrolled a number of Tiger’s women and also men.
With women making up 47% of the general UK workforce but only 20% in the transport sector, Tiger is keen to contribute to bringing about change.
As a leading HGV trailer and rigid bodywork manufacturer, we chose Women in Transport as it focusses specifically on the employment, career development and retention of women in the transport industry. Tiger Trailers is committed to encouraging applications from women for all our manufacturing and other varied roles.
Women in Transport is a not-for-profit organisation that empowers women in the industry to maximise their potential in predominantly male careers. They also offer a free mentoring programme which matches people all over the country and is a fantastic opportunity for career development.
It is proven that businesses who foster strong collaboration between male and female staff perform better, and benefit from diversity of ideas, attitudes, and approaches.
Tiger Trailers’ employee base of approximately 280 people is currently comprised 8% women, with females working in both its office functions and in the factory in manufacturing roles.
Over the last eighteen months, Tiger’s CSR and ESG activities have become a major part of the automotive manufacturer’s business. It all started with the introduction of the Tiger Safety Team and its free ‘STOP, LOOK, BE SEEN’ school road safety programme, and its support of various charities through Cheshire Community Foundation.
Tiger then began tree planting for each trailer sold, through More Trees by THG Eco, and started working with The Prince’s Trust supporting its TEAM work placement programme.
The manufacturer’s membership of Women in Transport demonstrates its proactive commitment to bringing about positive changes for its people and the road transport sector it works in.
