Tiger Trailers – exhibitors at Road Transport Expo (RTX) 2023, Stoneleigh

From June 28th to 30th, articulated semi-trailer manufacturer Tiger Trailers exhibited at Road Transport Expo (RTX) 2023, organised by DVV Media International and held at the NAEC (National Agriculture and Exhibition Centre) Stoneleigh in Warwickshire.

Marketed as ‘The one-stop industry event that’s all about the truck and everything related to it’, Road Transport Expo is a free-to-attend event that brings together across one vast indoor and outdoor venue over 200 suppliers to the road transport industry, from all the leading truck, trailer, tipper and tanker manufacturers to safety equipment, tyre, electronics, tail-lift and axle suppliers to name but a few, along with ancillary service providers from rentals and insurance brokers to legal and breakdown firms.

RTX is also home to a Knowledge Zone covering key topics such as vehicle compliance, technology innovation, and fleet decarbonisation, along with DVV’s Ride & Drive area offering eligible event attendees with the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the latest trucks, with fully electric variants stealing the show this year.

Following a record 2022 in which the company’s turnover grew by over 40% compared to the previous twelve months, Cheshire-based Tiger Trailers was keen to exhibit at RTX to showcase various new products, meet with business connections established and new, and to tell the story of its extensive CSR and ESG journey.

On Tiger’s main stand, Y9, the top-5 UK trailer-builder exhibited three of its latest products in the form of:

  • a 13.6m temperature-controlled tri-axle reefer designed specifically for the transport of retail milk, engineered to mitigate spilt milk having a corrosive effect when coming into contact with steel. Typically, operators transport bottled milk in small trolleys held in place with bars, and the load can move side to side during transit and spill. Tiger’s solution involves a reinforced floor, fully-sealed double-thickness sidewalls with fixed steel channels preventing structural separation, additional load restraints, interior cameras, and a recessed tail-lift button to reduce potential damage to the trailer. This latest iteration to the Tiger Siberian range features a 2-tonne tuck-under Dhollandia tail-lift and a Carrier Vector 1550 fridge unit, offering a 26-tonne payload for customers.
  • the manufacturer’s latest moving deck double deck box van trailer engineered to maximise capacity, offering operators a payload of up to 44 pallets. The trailer was finished in a Zenith Trailer Rentals livery, this order destined for regular Tiger customer Contract Vehicles Rentals Ltd to facilitate a logistics contract with a major clothing retail chain end user.

  • a 26-tonne curtainsided rigid bodywork solution based on a Volvo FH chassis, for longstanding customer Lomas Distribution, incorporating a raft of safety features such as a reverse camera, cyclist alert screen and side infills.

Tiger Trailers’ stand was comprised a grass surface for the comfort of visitors, with a large marquee in the central hospitality area providing plentiful seating along with a bar serving Tiger Beer among other refreshments.

A very special one-off tractor unit also formed an integral part of Tiger Trailers’ stand at RTX 2023, in the guise of Volvo Trucks UK dealer Thomas Hardie Commercials’ colourfully-wrapped FH Globetrotter demonstrator vehicle promoting Derian House Children’s Hospice. This was made possible by means of the road safety collaboration between the two automotive companies as part of the Tiger Safety Team’s ‘Stop, Look, Be Seen’ free school road safety programme for school children. The project’s mascot, Tiger Ted, was seen sitting in the Volvo Trucks demonstrator throughout the show, and the manufacturer donated £1,500 to the hospice, with the cheque received by Steve Wilson, New Vehicle Sales & Marketing Director at Thomas Hardie Commercials.

Oliver Hammond, Tiger Trailers’ PR & Marketing Manager, comments: “We are delighted to have exhibited at Road Transport Expo, which is clearly now ‘the’ industry show, judging by all the major truck firms and the hundreds of other exhibitors there, complete with strong visitor numbers. Our team greatly enjoyed catching up with customers, suppliers and other contacts, and making new connections, while proudly showcasing some of our latest products and sharing the wide-ranging initiatives we are involved in, from Women in Transport, More Trees by THG Eco, and The Prince’s Trust, to supporting various charities through Cheshire Community Foundation. We extend a warm thank you to all suppliers, partners, customers, the DVV team and all others who made Tiger Trailers’ stands at RTX 2023 possible, and we look forward to exhibiting at the show in future years.”

Representatives from Tiger’s Spanish partners, Lecitrailer, also attended the manufacturer’s main stand, providing information on the partnership’s ‘Tiger Siberian’ refrigerated solutions for the UK market since 2020, from single-temperature urban trailers to tri-temperature LSTs.

Tiger Trailers could also be found on stand Y74, which was occupied by its unmissable curtainsided sales demonstrator trailer, built on a Lecitrailer chassis and featuring a bold tiger’s face livery.
