CNG advocates, Virginia International Logistics, add the first ten Tiger Trailers curtainsiders to their fleet

Tiger Trailers’ widespread customer base continues to grow, with April 2021 seeing Virginia International Logistics add its first order of the manufacturer’s products to its vehicle assets, in the form of tri-axle straight frame curtainsiders with galvanised chassis.

Features to highlight on the haulier’s new Tiger-built trailers include:

  • Tiger’s ENXL Rated pillarless body.
  • Tiger’s fully galvanised chassis
  • Keruing hardwood floor
  • Bridgestone 385/65R 22.5 tyres
  • Hazchem pouches fitted on the curtains
  • TIR cord with eyelets on bulkhead and doors plus two TIR security plates fitted inside
  • Spanset winches with straps
  • Toolbox fitted at the nearside rear
  • Double spare wheel carrier incorporated behind sideguards
  • GRP document tube fitted to bearer nearside behind landing leg

Nine of the Tiger curtainsider trailers delivered to Virginia International Logistics display the customer’s livery, while one of the batch features Mannok’s branding on its curtains, in support of the Irish road transport firm’s contract with this diverse and experienced manufacturer of construction products that was formerly known as Quinn.

“Tiger is increasingly providing various types of trailers for operators based outside the UK and we’re proud to have supplied our first order to Virginia International Logistics. From the start of the process to its completion, it was a pleasure to support their team and we’re excited to be associated with such a dynamic customer that seeks to challenge conventions wherever possible. It will be great seeing photos on social media of Virginia’s Tiger trailers serving customers in the wild over the coming months and years, across Ireland, the UK and many other parts of their global reach” comments Thomas Stott, Tiger Trailers’ Technical Sales Manager.

A customer collecting trailers in something a little different always piques interest at Tiger Trailers’ Cheshire HQ and Ray Cole, Virginia’s Transport Director, was keen to emphasise that one of its 30-some-strong fleet of CNG (compressed natural gas) trucks, comprising approximately a quarter of its tractor fleet including DAF, Renault, Scania and Volvo, would be in attendance.

Virginia’s 10 Tiger curtainsiders join its existing impressive fleet of more than 400 trailers which includes Euroliners, double decks, container skeletals and multi-temp’ refrigerated box van reefers, fitted with live trackers and temperature monitoring systems.

The Irish haulier is a passionate advocate of alternative fuels and the environment and, in addition to adopting aerodynamics air tabs, eco driver training, AdBlue, plus fuel and tyre management initiatives, has partnered with Gas Networks Ireland (Bord Gais) to pioneer Ireland’s first CNG project. Virginia’s Dublin depot features a CNG refuelling station with two compressors, facilitating trucks like the IVECO Stralis NP460 that attracted attention at Tiger’s factory.

“We are delighted to have teamed up with Tiger Trailers on our newest addition of 10 Curtainsiders to our expanding fleet. We have invested heavily in our fleet over the last number of years priding ourselves on investing in top quality, eco-friendly trucks and trailers which recently included the addition 30 alternative fuel trucks ran on CNG fuels. We are very pleased with the quality and specification of the trailers we received – that, teamed with the high level service we received from the Tiger team, made the trailer integration a seamless process.” says Ray Cole, Virginia International Logistics’ Transport Director.
