Tiger Trailers’ return to Road Transport Expo (RTX)

Following on from its exhibitor debut in 2023, leading manufacturer Tiger Trailers returned to Road Transport Expo (RTX) this year with another typically welcoming stand showcasing the latest products from its comprehensive range.

Positioned closer to the road transport sector’s truck manufacturers and the show’s internal exhibition halls, and with a larger stand providing increased space for visitors and vehicle exhibits, Tiger Trailers’ presence at RTX 2024 at NAEC Stoneleigh in June was designed for added appeal, with an additional marquee and the same popular pub beer garden ambience courtesy of turf laid throughout – with road safety mascot Tiger Ted propping up the bar.

The vehicle exhibits which bordered Tiger Trailers’ stand at Road Transport Expo 2024 comprised a:

  • twin-axle, single-temperature refrigerated articulated trailer from the firm’s temperature-controlled range, with this particular 150-strong order having been designed and engineered for the specialist transport of retail milk in tets (cages) for a major dairy via a leading 3PL. Tiger’s reefer trailers and rigid bodywork solutions are manufactured in partnership with Lecitrailer of Spain, as explained by the roller banners positioned next to the stand exhibit.
  • 26-tonne curtain-sided DAF Trucks XD 340 rigid with bodywork manufactured for British Gypsum and XPO and supplied via Lancashire DAF, featuring the latest generation of Tiger’s in-house ‘Captive Rave’ bungee-style load securing and restraint system. Additional holes either side of the side rave spaced every 200mm allow the cargo restraint to be fixed with ease whilst within a “finger” dock and also when the load is overhanging the side rave, the spacing providing more opportunity to restrain varying lengths of load. The eight bungee load restraint straps rated at five tonnes each are fitted with ergo ratchets, and Tiger’s British Gypsum rigids as displayed at RTX 2024 are equipped with a Moffett carrying kit for PPT loading use rather than FLT.
  • longer semi-trailer (LST) moving deck double deck box van manufactured for long-standing customers AO (Expert Logistics) designed and engineered to enable four products wide to be transported, with double stacking on the lower and 8-tonne-rated upper deck, loaded by fork-lift truck or manually using sack trucks. The trailer was finished in the electrical retailer’s iconic green livery, and steps were provided to allow visitors to access the vehicle for closer inspection.
  • FedEx rigid built on a Mercedes Atego 818 chassis, with a sloping ‘Tiger tail’ aerodynamic front spoiler and four fins fitted at the rear of the 3D roof, tuck-away tail-lifts from Dhollandia, various galvanised materials for strength and durability, and Maple Plate sealed in the corners to reduce the chance of water ingress. The exhibit was part of an order of 150 rigid truck bodies that Tiger manufactured for the parcel carrier in the first half of 2024, focused on regional urban operations including deliveries direct to businesses and homes.

Oliver Hammond, Tiger Trailers’ PR & Marketing Manager, comments: “It was a fantastic opportunity for us to exhibit at DVV’s Road Transport Expo show again this year alongside the world’s largest truck and tyre manufacturers and a host of other suppliers to the haulage and logistics industry. Our team were pleased to welcome a wide range of people to our stand and to speak about not only our products but also the plethora of initiatives Tiger is involved with in the community, from road safety and tree-planting, to supporting organisations including Women In Transport, Veterans Into Logistics, and The King’s Trust. A big ‘thank you’ to everyone from #TeamTiger who helped in the planning and delivery of our attendance at RTX this year.”

Tiger Trailers will be exhibiting at Cold Chain Hub from TCS&D Magazine this October, at Birmingham’s NEC, where the manufacturer will be unveiling an exciting new addition to its temperature-controlled range of trailers and rigid bodywork. The event is held on the 9th and 10th of October and tickets, which are free, can be registered online from the organising publication’s website.
