Nathan Johnson
Design Engineer // Engineering team
What is your current job at Tiger?
I recently joined the office team as a Design Engineer after 7 years working on the shop floor. I have started working on my own contracts for customers, designing the models for their trailers using the SOLIDWORKS® software, ordering materials for production, and communicating with the sales team to ensure the job is built exactly how the customer wants. Antony H and Oliver E have given me lots of guidance and I’m now looking forward to seeing my first trailers being built on the shop floor soon.
What is your favourite thing about working at Tiger?
My favourite part about working at Tiger is the ability to progress. I started in 2015 as an apprentice, working different jobs on the shopfloor while completing my Level 3 in engineering. I then became a coachbuilder and when the opportunity came to join the design engineering team, I had no doubts about applying for it. I’m also now studying my HNC in engineering, and have a SOLIDWORKS® passport which allows me to go on software courses to help in my new role. During my time at Tiger so far, I’ve made some great friends. Everyone gets on well with each other! We’ve had some great nights out and I’m sure there will be more to come!
What is your favourite thing about working at Tiger?
It is exciting because the company is forward-thinking and innovative with its design, engineering, manufacturing, products and other processes. Every day brings a different challenge.
What is your main life achievement?
It is getting the job role I’m in now! I never imagined being where I am now, so I intend to keep working hard to get my HNC completed and prove that I can become a successful design engineer at Tiger.
What do you like doing at the weekends – hobbies, sport, that kind of thing?
I play a lot of golf and I would like to think I am quite good at it. Another interest for me is buying and selling trainers and clothes – something I have done since high school.
