How would you explain what you do?
As Technical Support Manager, the compliance team and I make sure that the trailers Tiger builds are legal to go on the road. We work with the government’s Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) to obtain ‘type approval’ (for the UK, Northern Ireland and Europe) for each Tiger trailer, so that they can be registered with the DVSA and used by Tiger’s customers. I focus on the technical part of the approval process.
What is your job history?
I started my career at a plant hire business as a fitter and operator, then moved into the road transport industry, before entering the body/coachbuilding sector in 1986.
What is your favourite thing about working at Tiger?
It is exciting because the company is forward-thinking and innovative with its design, engineering, manufacturing, products and other processes. Every day brings a different challenge.
What is your main life achievement?
Studying part-time while undertaking a full-time job, completing a BSc honours degree linked to the approved list of courses of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
Tell us more about yourself
At the weekend I like gardening, even if I’m not very good at it! I visit my local family near where I live in Congleton as often as possible, and also my family in Scotland. My main enjoyment is travelling, especially visiting southern Europe.
