To combat the challenging access restrictions faced on some of its inner-city delivery routes, Senator opts to use an efficient demountable drawbar combination. Having worked with the company on its trunking fleet, Tiger was also tasked with designing a demountable body system for the company’s two new 26-tonne DAF trucks, alongside a matching pair of bespoke tandem-axle drawbar trailers.
The drawbar and demount combinations are employed to effectively double the efficiency of Senator’s inner-city deliveries, halving the number of journeys required from its main depot.
Each demountable body was designed with a hot-dip galvanised steel subframe, with four heavy-duty beams and two retracting location cones, each with ISO-twist locks. The rear LED light units were created to fit Senator’s existing demount bodies, while avoiding any potential damage from the new Anteo tail-lifts. The drawbar trailers feature a straight-frame chassis with a single tow-beam, as well as a raise and lower valve for the suspension on an extended bracket between the axle wings.
“Our business lends itself to this demount body approach and Tiger really stepped up to the mark to ensure that these new additions were ideally suited to our needs. “Tiger has really focused on understanding our business and looking at ways to help us drive efficiency to new levels. It’s great to see a company which will bend over backwards to support its customers.”
Head of Logistics at Senator
"Because Senator specialises in inner-city deliveries, larger articulated trucks face restrictions – so the demountable option is perfect for them. These bodies are built to be robust enough to deal with the customer’s intense quick-change delivery approach, and we’re confident they’ll provide a long life in service."
