Paula Banyard
Storesperson + FLT Driver // Stores team
Tell us about your background…
My career started in a hospital laundry back in the 1980s, before moving into warehousing with BOC. I moved from Kent to Staffordshire in 1990 and spent 5 years on a pot bank before returning to warehousing distribution as a picker in a DHL/NISA chilled warehouse. I then moved into admin with a window profile manufacturer distributor for 13 years. I next joined Ceva in Crewe followed by Warehouse One for 7 years, before joining Tiger as a Storesperson, which is my first experience of an engineering environment.
What do you like doing outside work?
I’m a bit of a beer monster and like a drink at weekends, going out with friends, and watching football. I have always been a football fan from childhood, often playing on the village green and eventually going on to play for the local ladies team for 10 years. I’m too old now though, so I just watch, in the pub, with a pint or four!
What do you like about working at Tiger?
The friendly people and the hours, working Monday to Friday daytime.
What is your main life achievement?
I’ve managed to keep reasonably healthy, kept a roof over my head, and only ever been out of work twice, both for a reasonably short time.
Tell us some more about Paula…
I would love to have a Jack Russell dog one day, because I was bought up with them as a child. I lost 7lb with Slimming World and re-joined last week. I’ve done it once, so I can do it again. I have a sister, a niece and nephew, and six great nieces and nephews! I support Man Utd (men’s and women’s teams), my favourite food is rib-eye steak, and my favourite holiday destination is Crete.
